Violin

Here's my DT layout for 52 Sketches 52 Weeks' Sketch #17 by Julie Bonner. My PC's crashed so I actually had to re-upload the photos from my camera and crop them using a different editing tool, so hopefully they turn out okay!

I used papers from Basic Grey's Bittersweet and Porcelain Collections and K & Company's Life's Journey Collection for this layout, and added some musical elements to it as it is, after all, titled "Violin". The title for the layout, by the way, was inspired by the book of the same name by Anne Rice.

Here's the beautiful sketch that inspired this layout:

And this week's prize? This gorgeous kit from The Mosy Scrapper:

Creative Escape 2009 "Works Of Heart"

I'm so excited! Donna Downey, Tia Bennett, and Kah-Mei Smith are in town and will be teaching classes all day tomorrow, as part of the Creative Escape event organised by Laines Papeterie. And I've managed to book a spot for myself at this special event. I've been looking forward to this since last month, and now the day's finally here. Can't wait!

Change

So here it is - my first layout for 52 sketches 52 weeks, based on a lovely sketch by the talented Julie Bonner!

I mixed papers and embellishments from AdornIt, K & Company's Amy Butler Collection and GCD Studios, and added stickles, gems and fabrics for a variety of textures.

It's not so visible here, but I also applied the stickles to the flowers on the fabric tag. And I managed to use my Fiskars Circle Border Punch for this layout too!

So here's a look at the sketch:

Young Fashionista

So here it is - Challenge 10 at Butterfly Crafts. The challenge is to create a layout about what fashion means to you, whether it be favourite fashions from a period of time, a favourite designer or maybe even a fashion disaster!

I chose to do this layout of my younger daughter who I call a "Young Fashionista" for her keen fashion sense. Even at such a young age, she is very particular about her dressing, and everything she wears has to be fully coordinated! Never too young to start I guess!

I used papers from Heidi Swapp and DCWV for this layout, and added some Hambly transparencies as well as a cute little chipboard clothes stand from Riff Raff Designs, which I decorated with patterned paper and gems.

I also added stickles to the butterfly cut-outs for some shimmer and texture.

I had fun with this challenge, and I'm sure you will too. So flutter on by to Butterfly Crafts and join in the fun! The winner will get a chance of becoming the May guest designer AND also receive a gorgeous kit from Scrapbook Star! Ooh!

Materials used:
Patterned Papers - Heidi Swapp - Lovely Grid, Free; DCWV's All Dressed Up Collection - All The Rage
Transparencies - Hambly Screen Prints - Vintage Patchwork in Pink
Chipboard Clothes Stand - Riff Raff Designs
Title Alphas - American Crafts Fabric Chipboard Thickers - By The Yard in Bubblegum
Gems - Prima Say It In Crystals
Others - Ranger Ice Stickles in Crystal Ice, Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Black Soot, Lace

"Friends" Floral Hanging Keepsake

Here's something I did for some of my older DD's close friends, and which we gave out during her recent birthday celebrations in lieu of the usual goody bag. The girls may not all be in the same school next year (in fact, two have already changed schools), so she wanted them to have something to remember her and each other by. These keepsakes aren't quite complete as we will be printing some photos we took during the party, to be given to the girls to stick onto the three little flowers hanging at the bottom. Fun! And here's the back view of this particular piece:

Here are the rest of the keepsakes:

Materials used:
Floral Hanging - KaiserScrapbook Beyond The Page - Floral Hanging Keepsake
Patterned Papers - K & Company's Wild Saffron Collection

Flowers - Prima
Gem Swirls - Prima Say It In Crystals (Various Colours)
