Teen

I took this photo of my daughter on the very day she turned 13, to keep for posterity's sake. It was a big day for her, since as one of her friends said, it's the day she turns from being a "tween" to a "teen". So naturally I just had to scrap it.

I started with a lovely paper from Tim Holtz's Shabby Chic collection, and then just piled on the embellishments, experimenting with various mediums along the way.

I took a piece of chip tile from Tattered Angels, sprayed on a combination of Coffee Shop and Iridescent Gold glimmer mists on it, inked it with a combination of distress inks, and then used a sanding block to distress the embossed portions. I used this as a base on which I placed my matted photo and other embellishments.

I applied Tim Holtz's Distressed Crackle Paint in Clear Rock Candy on a couple of postage stamp "frames" from Tattered Angels, and very lightly inked their edges after the paint has dried.

I also applied the crackle paint to a little chipboard photo corner from Tattered Angels.

As the layout has a very pink base, I used lots of greens and browns as a contrast. I also did a lot of inking and distressing, and used pop-up dots for dimension. I finished it off with laces and a beautiful ornate frame from Tim Holtz.

Happy birthday, sweetie!
