Treasure

So did you have fun with the Zva Creative Blog Hop on Monday? I'm sure you found lots of inspiration from all the DT blogs you visited! I know I certainly did!

This is yet another layout I did for Zva Creative, using papers from GCD Studios' Ella Blue Collection. I cut out the frame from the Peggy Sue paper, and pasted it onto black cardstock. I then pasted the reverse of the Peggy Sue paper which I had cut out (and inked and distressed) inside this frame, leaving a corner free for me to peel back to reveal the black cardsock for a contrast of colours.

Next, I hand cut the flowers from the Savannah paper and used pop-up dots to adhere it to the frame. For some texture and sparkle, I then used Ranger's Distress Stickles to outline the cut-out flowers and leaves.

I had some leaves peek out from behind the rolled back corner, and added some lovely Zva Creative flowers to the stickled cut-outs, to give them even more dimension.

Some gorgeous Zva Creative flourishes are then added to the cut-outs. I used three different flourishes here to get the desired effect.

The Maya Road chipboard butterflies were altered with a combination of distress inks, glimmer mist, and stickles. I first applied a combination of Weathered Wood and Broken China distress inks to them and then sprayed Tattered Angels' Jazz Blue mist over them. Stickles were then applied to the bodies of the butterflies, for even more sparkle.

Zva Creative DT Blog Hop!

Are you ready to be inspired?

As you may know, I am a proud design team member for Zva Creative. We are joining together today to share a project that we have created using some of our favorite Zva Creative products. I am hoping that you will take some time to join us for a little bit of fun!

The Blog Hop begins at Kim Hughes' blog: Kim Hughes' blog. She will have the complete list of all blogs that are participating in case there is a glitch along the way. If you would like to play along, I am linking to one of the Zva designers and that designer is linking to the next and so on. There are 19 design team members, so be prepared to be inspired along the way. Hidden on 5 of the blogs is a Zva Creative prize package ...YAY! Those blogs will be randomly chosen after the hop is over, so it's important to leave a comment on as many blogs as you can along the way.

This Blog Hop runs through midnight US Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, June 29th and the 5 winners will be announced on Wednesday, June 30th on each of the winning blogs and the full list will be found on Kim Hughes‘s blog (linked above). We will do our best to notify each winner, but it's best if you can pop in to all of the blogs once again on Wednesday...plus, you never know what kind of inspirational creation that you may find there. All you need to do is leave a comment on this Zva Blog Hop post...you do not need to leave a comment on each and every designer's blog post to qualify. The more times you leave a comment along the blog hop path though, the more chances you will have to be one of the lucky winners.

Here's a layout I had created for Zva Creative, using their gorgeous pearl flourish and flowers. The flowers were a perfect match for the Pink Paislee Queen Bee papers I used, and I love their self-adhesive crystals and pearls as they adhere so well to almost any surface. Here, I have layered the pearls over pop-ups and fabric.

Little Dragon

I finally used my Pink Paislee Bayberry Cottage papers!

The photo shows my younger DD pointing to a dragon sculpture, taken in Sentosa. She tends to "associate" with dragons as she's born in the Year of the Dragon in the Chinese calendar, hence the title - Little Dragon.

I distressed and inked the edges of the papers and photo for added definition, and then mounted the photo using 3D pop-up dots, for dimension. I hand cut the flourishes from the Flower Garden paper, and also adhered it to the layout with more pop-up dots. I always like lots of dimension to my layouts.

The hand-cut flourishes are so beautifully elaborate that they can stand on their own without any further embellishments, so the only thing I added here is the Ribbon Pleat, also from Pink Paislee's Bayberry Cottage Collection.

Materials used:
Patterned Papers - Pink Paislee's Bayberry Cottage Collection - Picket Fence, Flower Garden, Front Porch
Ribbon - Pink Paislee's Bayberry Cottage Collection - Ribbon Pleats
Journaling Tag - Pink Paislee's Bayberry Cottage Collection - Punchouts
Alphas - Pink Paislee - Expressions Glitter Alphabets - Licorice; American Crafts Thickers - Rockabye Foam Letter Stickers - White; Making Memories - Tiny Alpha Alphabet Stickers - Black On White
Others - Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Black Soot, EK Success 3D Dots

Daddy's Lil Sweetheart

Here's another layout I did for Zva Creative. I did this layout using mainly Tim Holtz papers and Zva Creative flowers and blings. It's actually a kind of Father's Day layout. I decided to go with a blue theme, for a slightly more "man" look to the layout, and also to match my DH's shirt in the photo.

And you can't go wrong with Tim Holtz papers. I combined papers from Tim Holtz's Lost and Found, and Shabby Vintage Collections, and did a lot of tearing, distressing and inking of the papers.

I then embellished the layout with some beautiful flowers and crystal flourishes from Zva Creative.

And to match the blue tones of the papers and flowers, as well as the overall distressed look of the layout, I chose to apply blue distress embossing powder onto the metal photo corner.

Happy Father's Day to all the daddys out there!

Materials used:
Patterned Papers - Tim Holtz Idea-ology Paperie - Lost and Found Collection, and Shabby Vintage Collection
Flowers - Zva Creative
Crystal Flourishes - Zva Creative Self-Adhesive Crystals - Jasmine and Jade (CR-03CA-101 - Clear), Flora Flourish (CR-02CA-117 - Clear), Promenade Flourish (CRS-02CB-101 - Clear)
Photo Corner - Tim Holtz Idea-ology Metal Corners
Alphas - American Crafts Thickers - Shoe Box Chipboard Stickers in Light Blue, and Rainboots Puffy Letter Stickers in Black; My Mind's Eye - Lush Collection - Flocked Chipboard Alphabet Stickers in Blue
Others - Tim Holtz Distress Embossing Ink, Tim Holtz Distress Embossing Powder in Faded Jeans, Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Weathered Wood and Broken China, K & Co Craft Glue, Kokuyo Dotliner

June's Prima Product Pick

Prima's Product Pick for this month:

"Classy.
Elegant.
Stunning.
This month's PPP is absolutely gorgeous! The black and white products are perfect for so many occasions: weddings, anniversaries, graduations...while the touches of pink add a hint of romance."

I've done several layouts using the above products from Prima because they're so versatile to use! Here's an example, using the Grand Dame in Sterling and Symphony Blend in White flowers, combined with some other lovely Prima flowers:

Water Babe

My younger DD enjoying herself in the pool on a hot day last year. This is another DT layout for Zva Creative. I used a mix of papers from Crate Paper, Tim Holtz and GCD Studios for this layout. Isn't it great how these can be combined so nicely together?

I created a series of concentric circles on the layout, using Crate Paper's diecut paper, some lace, and patterned papers. I used Martha Stewart Crafts' Doily Lace Edge Punch on the strips of brown patterned paper, to create a lace effect, and complemented these with some white laces I had in my stash.

And I decided to use a lovely and very appropriate patterned paper from Tim Holtz for the centre circle, to simulate the look of water. I thought it went very nicely with the background of the photo.

The layout is then completed with some Zva goodness - flowers to match the colours of the pool and background paper, as well as my DD's swimsuit, and some lovely black crystal flourishes like splashes of water, to further emphasize the water theme.

Materials used:
Patterned Papers - GCD Studios' Ella Blue Collection - Peggy Sue; Crate Paper's Prudence Collection - Charity, and Virtue; Tim Holtz's Idea-ology Paperie - Shabby Vintage Paper Stash
Flowers - Zva Creative - Bulk Flowers, Felt Flowers
Brads - Zva Creative - Crystal Brads
Flourishes - Zva Creative - Self-Adhesive Crystals - Northern Lights in Jet
Alphas - American Crafts Thickers - Nutmeg Glossy Letter Stickers in Chestnut
Laces - Melissa Frances; from stash
Edge Punch - Martha Stewart Crafts - Doily Lace Edge Punch
Inks - Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Broken China, Weathered Wood, Frayed Burlap
Adhesives - Beacon's 3-In-1 Advanced Craft Glue, Kokuyo Dotliner

Being You

This is another DT layout I did for Zva Creative using Pink Paislee's Queen Bee Collection papers and Zva Creative's flowers and pearls.

I tore a little frame out of the Bee Hive diecut paper and created an inner frame with the Worker Bee paper, and placed my photo within this "frame".

I then layered some strips of paper and ribbon across the background of the layout, using an edge punch to create the borders of the strip.

Next, the Honey Bee paper lends itself so well to cutting that I just had to cut out the flowers and leaves and surround the photo with them. I adhered these to the paper using pop-up dots, and created even more dimension with some lovely flowers and pearls from Zva Creative. The yellow and green flowers matched the papers perfectly, and I added splashes of white for a little bit of contrast.

I must say I'm quite pleased with how this turned out. :)

Materials used:
Patterned Papers - Pink Paislee - Queen Bee Collection - Bee Hive Diecut, Worker Bee, Honey Bee, Queen Bee
Ribbon - Pink Paislee - Queen Bee Collection - Ribbon Pleats
Flowers - Zva Creative Bulk Flowers
Flourish - Zva Creative Self-Adhesive Pearls - Promenade Flourish in Brown
Alphas - American Crafts Thickers - Nutmeg Glossy Letter Stickers in Chestnut
Edge Punch - Martha Stewart Crafts - Arch Lattice Edge Punch
Others - Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Frayed Burlap, EK Success 3-D Dots, K & Co Craft Glue, Kokuyo Dotliner
