I love the cheerful colours of the papers, and found flowers from Prima Marketing and Farm House Paper Company to match the blue and reds perfectly!

Megan

So this is another project I did at Anna Dabrowska-Peckoka's workshop last month, and I have to say it's one of my favourite projects. It's a mixed media canvas which involved lots of layering of fabrics, chipboard pieces and metal findings, and to which we then applied mists, paints and gesso. The result is a beautifully textured piece, with a gradient of colours that moved from dark to light.

While Anna guided us on the techniques, we were given free reign to create our projects in our own individual styles, and each of us came away with a very personalised piece of canvas. I added some of my own findings and laces to mine, and applied mists and paints in various shades of blue, with a tinge of yellow and gold for some highlights. And this is the result.

Life's Journey

I attended a wonderful mixed media workshop last weekend, conducted by none other than Anna Dabrowska-Pekocka aka Finnabair. We worked on three separate projects, and this layout is one of them. I must say it was a most satisfying workshop, and I learned so many new mixed media techniques there.

For this layout in particular, we used a plain white cardstock as the background, and did some embossed stamping, splashed tea bags and distress stains over it, and then did more stamping on top of that.

We then layered papers, canvas flowers, chipboard pieces, and other embellishments on the layout. I love the entire look that was created!

Some close-ups ...

One Fine Day

Here's my DT layout for My Creative Sketches' November Sketch by Kim Keane.

I used papers from Graphic 45's A Ladies' Diary collection (one of my fave collections from them) and embellishments from Prima and Zva for this layout, which also features lots of fussy-cut flowers.

I applied distress inks to the little resin heart from Prima Marketing, to give it a bit of colour, and then "sealed" the inks' colours in with some stickles which I applied over them. The stickles also give the resin a nice little sparkle.

So, hop on over to the MCS blog to check out the awesome sketch, get some more fabulous inspiration, and find out how you can get a chance to win an even more awesome prize!

Lovely. Beautiful. Darling - Canvas Box with Mini-Album (Part 1)

I recently did this project for my younger DD as a little keepsake for her as she approaches the next phase in her life.

The box is actually made from two pieces of stretched canvas that I attached together and added a little clasp to. I sprayed it with glimmer mist all around, and then decorated the top cover with handcuts and embellishments from My Mind's Eye, Dusty Attic, and of course, Prima.

I altered the chipboard pieces by first applying Picket Fence Distress Stain onto them for a white base, and then adding some Glimmer Glam, Antique Linen Distress Stickles, and Rock Candy Crackle Paint over this. I love the effect these created. I then added some bling to further embellish the pieces.

I also applied stickles to the fussy cut flowers and hot air balloon, for even more sparkle. These are then adhered to the cover using pop-up foam dots for added dimension.

Add a string of pearls around the edges, some flowers and a metal charm, and there you have it - a pretty and somewhat baroque-looking cover. I then added some pretty Melissa Frances trims around the sides of both the top and bottom covers.

The box opens up to reveal a little mini-album inside, made with papers from My Mind's Eye's Follow Your Heart collections.

Here's a look at the cover of the mini-album, embellished with some lace, chipboard piece, flowers, pearls, and dimensional cardstock stickers.

I'll be posting the inside of the mini in another post, so stay tuned, and thanks for dropping by! :)
