Smells Like Teen Spirit

I did this layout to capture my older DD at 17. I wanted lots of textures for the layout, so I began with a textured piece of cardstock and worked my way from there, using a mask to first apply some white acrylic paint to it.

I then water distressed and inked the patterned papers, and added some corrugated cardboard, muslin, twine, and lots of metal embellishments.

The title, of course, is a song by Nirvana, one of my rocker girl's fave bands. :)

Some close-ups ...

Layouts We Love!

Learnt a couple of days back that my layout '12 Apostles' is featured in Scrapbook.com's Layouts We Love blog series, which showcases layouts in the Scrapbook.com Gallery that had caught their team’s eye. What a pleasant surprise! :)

12 Apostles

It's reveal day once again at My Creative Sketches, and here is my DT layout, inspired by this lovely sketch by Liz Chidester.

I used papers from My Mind's Eye's Lost and Found Two collection for the layout, with embellishments from Prima Marketing and KaiserCraft.

I especially love the darling little bird's nest from Prima!

The photos were taken during our vacation in Melbourne last year, when we visited the Twelve Apostles, a collection of limestone stacks off the shore of the Port Campbell National Park, by the Great Ocean Road.

A little history - the site was known as the Sow and Piglets until 1922, when it was renamed to The Apostles for tourism purposes. The formation eventually became known as the Twelve Apostles, despite only ever having nine stacks. Susceptible to erosion from the waves, a 50 metre tall stack collapsed on 3 July 2005, leaving eight remaining, which is what is seen in these photos. :)

Now, head on over to the MCS blog, and check out the lovely prize up for grabs this month, as well as for more great inspiration! Thanks for dropping by! :)

Notebooks for Teachers (Part 2)

While my previous post was on the notebooks I made for my older DD's teachers, this set of notebooks is for my younger DD's teachers, given last year as well when she graduated from primary school. Yep, that's a lot of notebooks! This one here was for her form teacher, who she totally adores!

And these are for her other subject teachers.

Thanks once again for taking the time to drop by! :)

Notebooks for Teachers (Part 1)

I've just realized I hadn't posted several projects I had been working on last year, so I will begin posting them now starting with these - a series of notebooks I made for my older DD's teachers, which she gave them when she graduated from secondary school last year. I used a variety of patterned papers and embellishments from various manufacturers for these notebooks - a great way to use up my stash! :)

These are the other notebooks for her female teachers.

And these are for the male teachers (the one on the left was for her Art teacher).

Thanks so much for dropping by! :)
