Travel Adventure

September's sketch at My Creative Sketches is another lovely one by Liz Chidester.

For my DT layout, I chose to scrap more photos from my daughter's literature trip to the United Kingdom with her school, using a mix of papers from Graphic 45 and S.E.I. I like that the S.E.I. paper, from their Moravia colletion, has felt bits which lend the layout some texture.

In fact, this layout is really a combination of the various product brands I have in my stash, and I'm happy to see how they work so well together!

Here are the close-ups.

Thank you so much for dropping by. Now, hop on over to the MCS blog for more inspiration, and also to check out the wonderful prize that awaits this month's winner!

Canvas Project

Last week was Teacher's Day here, and this year, I decided to experiment with canvases for my daughter's teachers. I have to say I like how they turned out.

I pasted strips of paper napkins and various lace trims onto the canvas, and used a stencil to apply modeling paste to the top corner and bottom edge, for added texture. I then applied gesso to the entire canvas and then sprayed glimmer mists in a mix of colours over the canvas.

After the canvas has dried, I added the alphas and embellishments, and applied gesso to these. I then sprayed the entire canvas again with the same glimmer mist colours. I finished off the canvas by spraying it over with a specific glimmer mist in Iridescent Gold, to give the entire piece a lovely gold shimmer.

At the back of the canvas, I pasted a little message for the teacher.

Here's another design.

And yet another in more earthy tones.

And finally, one for the male teachers - I replaced the flowers with buttons and wood embellishments instead.

Here's a collage of all the canvases - don't you just love all the pretty colours?

I gift-wrapped the canvases with black tissue paper and finished off the look with a red ribbon and matching sticker tag. :)
