Journey Back In Time

Here's my DT layout for My Creative Sketches' October Sketch - another lovely one by Liz Chidester.

The photo in the layout was taken during our visit to Sovereign Hill, Ballarat last December, "Australia’s foremost outdoor museum which re-creates the first ten years after the discovery of gold in 1851, when thousands of international adventurers rushed to the Australian goldfields in search of fortune". It was literally like stepping back in time, hence the title of the layout, and the 'clocks' theme.

I also distressed the papers and used embellishments that help to give the layout an "old world" feel.

Here are some close-ups.

Remember

I created this layout using papers from Prima's Time Traveler's Memories collection, with embellishments from Prima, Tim Holtz Idea-ology, and KaiserCraft.

I wanted to create a very 3-dimensional layout, with lots of layering, so I added strips of corrugated cardboard, and used 3D foam dots for a pop-up effect.

I also added wood and metal embellishments as well as some laces, and distressed the paper edges for added textures.

Some close-ups ...

Live!

It's reveal time yet again at My Creative Sketches - check out this month's beautiful sketch by Liz Chidester.

I used papers from Pink Paislee's Butterfly Garden collection for my DT layout, and pleated some paper doilies behind the two semi-circles.

I then embellished the layout with wood flourishes (sprayed with glimmer mist), flowers, and butterflies, using pop-up foam dots to adhere the photos and some of the embellishments, for depth and dimension.

The quote, another one of my favourite quotes, is stamped onto a column of patterned paper ...

... and I applied some crystals and stickles to the bark butterflies, to add some sparkle to them as well as to match the big, beautiful butterfly from Prima's Andorra collection.

Here are more close-ups of the flower and butterfly clusters.

Dance In The Rain - Canvas

I created this canvas piece as a gift for a friend.

The stamp is one of my favourites from Tim Holtz (I love the quote), and I layered the embellishments to make them really 'pop' on the canvas.

I also sprayed some glimmer mists onto the canvas to give just a hint of colour beneath the notecard and embellishments, instead of leaving it just plain white.

Here are some close-ups.

Thanks so much for dropping by! :)
