Life's Journey

It's reveal day at My Creative Sketches, and this month's inspiration comes from this lovely sketch by Liz Chidester.

I used papers mainly from BoBunny's The Avenues collection for my layout, the colours of which I think match the colours in my photos perfectly! I also combined these with a couple of papers from the Gabrielle collection, which complemented The Avenues collection so well.

I inked and water-distressed the papers, and embellished the layout with paper doilies, some lace, flowers and metal embellishments.

I also used 3D foam dots for the mounted photos to give the layout some depth and dimension.

Here are some close-up shots.

I so love this quote - it's one of my all-time favourites.

Follow Your Bliss

The sketch for this month at My Creative Sketches is a lovely one by Christine Meyer.

For my layout, I used papers from Prima Marketing's Nature Garden collection, along with a mix of flowers from Petaloo and Prima Marketing, and crystals from Zva Creative.

I tore, distressed, and inked the papers for definition and texture, and added some corrugated cardboard to the layout to give it even greater texture and character.

I then added some flowers and a pretty crystal flourish to complete the layout.

Here are some close-ups.

Wild Thing

It's time for another reveal at My Creative Sketches, and this month's sketch is a lovely one by Michelle Fowler.

Using papers from BoBunny's Zoology collection, I created this layout of my younger DD with a couple of beautiful tigers we "met" during our visit to Tiger Kingdom in Chiang Mai, Thailand, last December.

I used a mask to create the design on the paper doily at the centre of the layout, beneath the flowers and vine, and also distressed and inked the edges of the cardstock and patterned papers, for some texture and definition.

Here are more close-up shots of the layout.

Laos

Another new year and another new reveal at My Creative Sketches! And this month's inspiration comes from this fabulous sketch.

I used papers from Sassafras Lass, which I found in my stash, for my layout, and chose to scrap this photo which was taken during our amazing trip to the Golden Triangle last December, where we took a boat ride along the Mekong River from Chiang Rai in Thailand into Laos. It was such a wonderful experience that I just had to scrap it!

Here are some close-ups of the layout.

Joyeux Noel

The final reveal for 2015 at My Creative Sketches sees our DT layouts inspired by this lovely sketch by Liz Chidester.

For my layout, I used papers from Graphic 45's The Twelve Days Of Christmas collection, which I again water-distressed for added texture. The photos, of my girls and my mum-in-law, were taken some years ago during our trip to Tokyo Disney.

I applied distressed ink onto parts of the background paper using a mask, and then embellished the layout with flowers and brads from Prima Marketing, as well as some lovely pearl strands from my stash.

Here are some close-up shots.

Memories

It's reveal day at My Creative Sketches, and here is my DT layout inspired by this month's lovely sketch below.

I used a mix of papers from Prima Marketing, Kaisercraft and My Mind's Eye - isn't it great that they can be combined so wonderfully together? The floral clusters are also a mix of flowers from Prima Marketing and Petaloo, so as you can probably tell, this layout is all about combining the various collections from the different brands.

The photos were from our Cambodia trip last year, where we visited the amazing temple ruins of Siem Reap, some like Ta Prohm overgrown with trees that soar skywards.

I water-distressed the papers, giving the layout some added texture, and inked the edges with distress ink for definition. The layout is then given added dimension by using pop-up foam dots for the photos and texts.

Here are some close-ups.

Now hop on over to the MCS blog for more inspiration, and at the same time check out the awesome prize that's been put together for this month's lucky winner.
