Amazing

It's reveal day at My Creative Sketches, and here is my DT layout inspired by this month's lovely sketch by Kristine Davidson.

I used papers from Webster's Pages' In Love collection for my layout, and splattered some glimmer mist and glimmer chalkboard onto it.

For a little bit of texture and dimension, I added some corrugated cardboard and also mounted the photo onto a corrugated cardboard piece.

Here are close-up shots of the larger flower cluster.

So, head on over to the MCS blog for more inspiration, as well as a look at the fabulous prize that's been put together for this month. Looking forward to seeing all your wonderful submissions!

Melanie

This is a mixed media canvas project I recently completed, which is inspired by a class I attended a few years ago by the super-talented Anna Dabrowska-Peckoka aka Finnabair. I had done a similar piece for my older DD then, so I decided to do one for my younger DD now (long overdue!).

The project consists of layering pieces of fabric, chipboards, floral embellishments and metal findings onto the canvas and around the photo, and applying gesso, mists and paints to them, in a gradient of colours that moved from dark to light.

The result is a beautifully textured piece of canvas.

Some close-ups .....

Enjoy The Moment

It's time yet again for another reveal at My Creative Sketches, and here is this month's lovely sketch by Kristine Davidson.

For my DT layout, I used papers from My Mind's Eye, with embellishments from Prima Marketing, Kaiser and Scrap FX.

I framed the inner square of the layout with some lace trim to give it a more defined border.

And I applied gesso to the wood embellishments and then lightly inked them with distress ink and brushed some distress stickles over them for a very faint trace of colour and shimmer.

And I just love this bird's nest from Prima. I think the nest with the pink and white flower cluster (to match the pink flowers in the photos) give this layout a very "spring" feel. :)

Family

I created this 8" x 8" layout as a present for my sis-in-law, to take home with her to Wisconsin (framed in a shadow box, of course). I used the same photo and sentiment as my previous, DT layout for My Creative Sketches, but used a different design for this layout, to fit the 8" x 8" frame.

This is one of my favourite 'Family' sentiments.
