Our Family Moments Mini Album

I haven't done a mini-album in quite awhile but a couple of weeks back I attended Donna Downey's Creative Escape workshop and now I'm inspired! We worked on two mini-abums and an inspirational journal at the workshop, and while I had the momentum going, I decided to create this mini for my DH for his birthday. :)

Because it's for my DH, I decided to keep this as a very "man" album - no laces or blings, and very, very little flowers. Instead, I did stamping, distressing and misting for the pages, and embellished the entire album with metal embellies.

I specifically chose this denim-covered album from Chatterbox which I had bought ages ago, as I thought it would look really great decorated with the metal embellies.

The bird and cage on the cover was created using Tim Holtz's Caged Bird Sizzix Bigz Die. I used the die on a piece of cardboard covered with patterned papers, and then for a distressed look, I inked the diecut cage with Tim Holtz's Distress Ink in Antique Linen, and applied some Distress Embossing Powder in Frayed Burlap onto parts of the cage. I further added some Distress Stickles in Antique Linen to this. I love the effect this created.

I then decorated it with some metal and paper flowers from Prima, and some metal trinkets also from Prima.

Here's a look at the individual pages of this mini-album.

And the pages when put together.

It was really fun creating this album, as it was something totally different from what I would usually create (read lots of flowers and blings!). But I'm rather pleased with the final product! :)

Thanks so much for dropping by! :)
